Academic Literacy Skills and Senior English

Your Teacher for Unilearn Academic Literacy Skills and Senior English is Kelly Lofthouse; M Education, Grad Cert Behaviour Management, B Education. Kelly is an experienced English teacher with excellent communication skills and content knowledge across several levels of schooling.

She will be providing you with academic support for your studies in the Unilearn Academic Literacy courses. This support will be provided by means of a tutoring system, whereby you can discuss any difficulties or queries you may have mainly by email or in the online environment. Please do not hesitate to contact her as you work through the course material.

The Writing Assignments (found in the back of your book or in the online environment under assignments) are an important part of the learning process. Kelly will provide feedback on the assignments when you submit them. She looks forward to hearing from you and wish you every success with your studies.

Biology

Your Teacher for Unilearn Biology is Vanessa Kubeckis; BApp Sc (Biology), GradDip Secondary Education, GradDip Counselling. Vanessa is a registered teacher and has been teaching in high schools since 1997 and in Adult Education as a TAFE teacher in the past 3 years in several of her teaching areas. She has also tutored high school students through private tutoring services throughout this time. She is an experienced educator who has worked in many different settings and is passionate about empowering students to fulfil on their study goals and produce the results they want to go onto Tertiary Education.

Vanessa will be providing support for your studies in the Unilearn biology course. This support will be provided by means of a tutoring system, whereby you can discuss your difficulties with the course concepts by email (preferred), telephone or through the online course support classroom.

Biology and Intro Maths

Your Teacher for Unilearn Biology and Introductory Mathematics is Dr Jenelle Benson; BS Biology, MA Environmental Science, EdD Educational Strategies and Assessment. Dr Benson is currently the Lead Vocational Teacher for Unilearn. She has worked with TAFE Queensland, Brisbane and Unilearn for the last seven years. Jenelle taught high school Honours Biology, Honours Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry and Mathematics courses for 16 years before moving to Australia. Additionally, she taught Biology Advanced Placement courses equivalent to undergraduate courses at University. She has taught Biology and Maths for Unilearn since 2009. She is an experienced educator and researcher and uses this expertise to help students be successful.

Senior Maths

Your Teacher for Unilearn Senior Mathematics is Anne Williams; BApp Sc (Maths), GradDip Teach, GradDip Computer Education. Anne is a registered teacher and has been teaching for the past 33 years, she is an experienced educator and researcher and uses this expertise to help students be successful.

Chemistry

Your Teacher for Unilearn Chemistry is Mary Hill; BA, MSc, DipEd, MEdSt, GradDipArts, GradDip Computer Studies, MRACI. She is an experienced Chemistry educator and researcher having taught Chemistry in high schools and universities for over 30 years.

Mary will be providing you with academic support for your studies in the Unilearn Chemistry course. E-mail is the quickest way to get in contact with her as she works from various venues but telephoning is another option. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with her as you work through the course material. An email or a quick phone call can often save you time and frustration. Her role is to assist you in obtaining a positive outcome in your Unilearn Chemistry studies and she welcomes your queries about any aspect of the subject matter in the Chemistry course. Questions relating to the administration of the course, such as exam requests, should be directed to Unilearn staff.

Physics

Your Teacher for Unilearn Physics is Rowan Barber; B Sc, M Eng Sc, Grad Dip Ed. Rowan is a husband, a father (of infants) and a Teacher. Rowan’s current day job is engaging students to discover the joys in science, mathematics and technology. He works with students and teachers from Prep to Year 12. He has experience in water and sanitation in developing communities and a background in Process Engineering in a first world context. He uses this expertise to help students be successful.

Introduction to Economics

Your Teacher for Unilearn Introduction to Economics is Helen Wilkie (BA Dip Ed); Helen has taught a range of Economics courses for over eleven years in the school, TAFE and university sectors. She is an experienced educator and has worked online and face-to-face with students for many years and uses her expertise to help students be successful. Helen has worked extensively in Bridging Courses preparing students for university.
